send
People say send when they want something delivered or transmitted. They mean move this thing from me to someone else. It covers mail, messages, files, payments, anything going outward.
What a model may hear
- transmit data over a socket network programming in Python, C, Go
- assume the user wants raw byte transmission and may ask for protocol, port, or encoding details
- dispatch a blockchain transaction Ethereum, Bitcoin, smart contract docs
- prepare a signed transaction with gas fees, wallet addresses, and nonce management
- emit an event or signal UI frameworks, game engines, async programming
- trigger an event listener or message bus rather than direct delivery
- execute an HTTP request web APIs, curl, fetch, axios
- construct headers, method, and body for a network call
- enqueue a message message queues, RabbitMQ, Kafka, SQS
- place the item in a broker for later consumption rather than immediate receipt
Where people and models part ways
“send this to my mom”
Meant: deliver a message to a family member
May be taken as: the model asks for an IP address, SMTP server, or API endpoint
Say instead: “send a text message to my mom at this phone number”
“send me the money”
Meant: transfer funds through a payment app
May be taken as: the model generates a raw Ethereum transaction or asks for a private key
Say instead: “send me twenty dollars using Venmo”
“send the file when it's ready”
Meant: deliver a document upon completion
May be taken as: the model writes a socket server or polling loop instead of using email or cloud storage
Say instead: “email the file when it's ready or upload it to Google Drive”
“send a reminder”
Meant: notify me later about something
May be taken as: the model implements a pub/sub event system or cron job with technical setup
Say instead: “remind me tomorrow at 9am to call the dentist”
Tips
- Name the service: say email, text, upload, or wire instead of bare send when you can.
- Give the destination in terms the service uses: a phone number, an email address, a username.
- Say when if timing matters; models default to immediate technical execution.
- Mention the thing by type: photo, PDF, payment, link; avoid bare it or this.
- If you want a person to receive it, say to a person; otherwise models may target a server or contract.
Often confused with
- transfer
- implies ownership or account movement, not just transmission
- dispatch
- more formal, often means async job queuing to a model
- emit
- broadcast to any listener, not targeted delivery
- push
- server-initiated to a client, often triggers notification code
- post
- specific to HTTP or social media, not general sending
- relay
- forward through an intermediary, not direct to recipient
